Letter from Moriah
HOLDING SPACE: As an artist, but as a human, first and foremost- I believe we are inherently made to create and that we all have the ability to expand our ways of creation and find new ways to communicate. To devote time and to create space so that we utilize our capacity to be creative, express our humanness and our experiences in a way that is centered, rooted and grounded. In turn within this foundation, we are welcomed to expand our story and our world as how we perceive it. I hope to provide and facilitate a stable and predictable environment that invites one to explore the exciting opportunities . . . to simply discover, what is there.
There are no skills required to create because there is no wrong or right way to make art (per say)- it is a learning process by which we can gain insights from. We are all meant to create, to play and to explore our worlds- though sometimes we are in need of a guidance of a therapist, a teacher or even a friend to re-gain access to this very nature we inhabit. My work as an art psychotherapist, art therapy professor and active artist in the community allows me to explore other perspectives, share my love for art, interest in people, and psychology-- as well as the enjoyment that art-making provides.
Overtime, I continue to experience the energizing and healing qualities of art-making that I have had the honor to witness among fellows, students, clients and of course, myself included. Making art especially painting brings great substance, depth and meaning into my life—I especially appreciate introducing or re-introducing my clients to painting materials and other materials that spark a sense of charisma. It is rewarding to share an art facilitation that brings about these opportunities. An opportunity that has protentional to kindle our curiosity into one's own abilities and what is possible. By practicing what I preach, I aspire to continue create a therapeutic space that cultivates growth, welcomes vulnerabilities freedom to express, and empathetic witnessing.
My deepest goal in the heart of my service is to collaboratively contribute meaningfully to each opportune relationship that I encounter in my art facilitations with my background, experience, education and training. I find this kind of work to be of a spiritual nature that is filled with love, unconditional positive regard and depth that at time goes beyond the spoken language. Such as the essence of art therapy, the art process 'speaks' to what words can not. The act of art-making has the capacity to be a catalyst for positive transformations, awareness's and internal/external changes that occur in our meta-verbal communication-- which is potent to our understanding as human-beings.
Art, metaphor, poetry, innovation, creativity is the heart of human expression since millennia and for many, art is what continues to sustains us. ART supports ALL members of the human race and is absolutely an essential function to societies and for our mental health. I am eager to share this process with you and to be of service to others within the heart of all my experience, knowledge and capacities!

Thank you wholeheartedly for taking the time to read my mission. No obligation whatsoever, but if you would like to support my cause to bringing art to in-service locations - any amount will get you a handwritten thank card with my artwork on it (please include your address on the note, so I know where to send it and to say thank you). It is so much appreciated and it goes towards art supplies, materials, car fuel and start-ups for my community art mission and volunteering projects:

All People to Art
In addition, my clinical work includes people challenged by mental health issues and various forms of trauma which include: Substance Use Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Complex- P.T.S.D., Clinical Depression, Anxiety, Mood and Personality Disorders, children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disturbances, the intellectually and physically impaired and individuals in Trauma-Informed Residential Treatment Facility for Adult Mothers in Recovery and Adolescent Mothers, In-Patient Behavioral Health Unit, Oncology Unit, Community Therapeutic Arts Center, ‘At Risk Youth’ in after school programming/educational-settings/recreational environment, Out-Patient Co-Occurring Disorder Program, Homelessness, and Residential Veterans programs. These communities are often underrepresented and marginalized necessitating an invaluable need for reconciliation facilitated through art psychotherapeutic interventions. Also, in the classroom I meet students who come from complex backgrounds, who exhibit learning and physical disabilities, sometimes are non-traditional students; as well as from other marginalized groups such as LBGTQ+ identities which requires my presence as a teacher to breathe acceptance of all individuals.
