SUBVERTING CRAFT- Art Exhibition

2/4/2017

Last night was the Artist Talk to Subverting Craft based on the book series The Family Creative Workshop on Feb. 3rd from 5:30 to 6:45.
The show is curated by Lindsey Jancay '12 and is comprised of work by:
Kathy Scott Bachofer '15
Gabrielle Buzgo '11
Kailey Goodnuff '16
Britni Houser '16
Moriah M. Mylod '16
Victoria Snyder '12
Martha Moore Westbrook '86
Each alum-artist was given the opportunity to study the book series, select a craft project and either follow the instructions or reinterpret them. As an alum I was given an opportunity to study the series, select earth mandalas as my craft and engage in an artist talk on this process.
This show is part of the 150th anniversary celebration of Cedar Crest College.

Brief gallery slide show of the night, our instructions were formatted into a book inspired by the DIY movement of the 60's (Family Craft Workshop book series) and I captured a moment from the audience.

“Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide.”
