Reproduced black and white art’s printed images from the 15th century Flemish Painting Index. The collection gave me an opportunity to deconstruct/reconstruct/explore the meager quality of these pasted on images. By applying further damage such as spraying water or paint, pouring coffee and wine, scratching away at the surface ect… I allowed both the application of mediums and material partial precision to allow the mediums to change the surface as they will.
As the beginning replica, the primary images (the paintings themselves) were pictures of religious icons, biblical stories scenes, and myths with embellished truths, propagandists paid by the hierarchy, power, control and money of that time. The need to render them into my own investigation and understanding of existence, beliefs and ideas through dismantling and collage processes.
