The Avocado Tree: El Árbol de Aguacate is a children's book written in English and Spanish to provide the reader a journey into both worlds of language.
This children's book is a story that begins when Diane's father planted an Avocado Tree in the front yard of their home. She was 10 years old then and lived in Glendale, Arizona. Diane grew up with a flourishing Avocado Tree in her front yard and she had no idea that this tree would fruit a kind of hope that would give her the strength to live a prosperous life and see the world as a magical place. This extraordinary tree had received much attention throughout it's lifespan and has produced many delicious avocados to enjoy. This avocado tree grieved the loss of Diane's father passing along with her and her family and those who knew him. Through this loss Diane found a way to continue to spread her father's loving energy. This is a book about re-discovering meaning and a life's purpose through grief and loss. This children’s book is available in hardcover and digital copy e-book Barnes & Noble, Target and Amazon, see below to purchase online at your preferred store now: ABOUT THE ART: The illustrations in The Avocado Tree are based on original photographic documentations by Diane and other images that the artist drew from Diane's memories connected to her and her father's relationship to the tree. The illustrations were hand-painted in watercolors and drawing materials by visual artist, Moriah Mylod-Daggett. Stylistically Moriah painted the images in expressionism to convey the vibrancy of emotions, thoughts and sensations behind the words that surround this heartfelt story of life and legacy.

Book excerpt: "The fall foliage is bursting with shades of orange, yellow and red, mimicking a painting in texture and color. The pond surface to your right mirrors the scene perfectly, doubling the dazzling sight like a mirror. The crisp fall air surrounds you, bringing earthy scents to your nose. Two blue jays flitter from branch to branch in the tall trees ahead. You take a moment to gaze up at the bright blue sky in the canopy above. The swirl of clouds and sky fill your eyes against the contrasting colors of the changing leaves. You climb over a few gray rocks that lead up a small hill. One of the blue jays has followed you on your walk and chirps in acknowledgment of your presence." **Educators, community leaders, practitioners and interested individuals are welcome to download and share a free copy of the Create Your Own Guided Meditation Workbook included in the book. The artist Moriah M. Mylod has also provided a supplemental PDF resource for individual or group Earth Mandala instruction. Enjoy!
